Lightwish 332 effect descriptions
1. Lightwish - one participant thinks of a wish, and writes it
down and keeps it. They then, while the mage and other participant
face away, choose a lighter out of the ungimmicked bag, light
their candle, then put the lighter back and think of the colour
they chose. They then face away while the other participant chooses
a lighter. The first participant names the colour that she is
thinking of, and the lighter matches. She then blows out her candle,
and you casually mention that you hope she gets her wish, naming
it as well.
2. Blessings of light - for stage or parlour, 2 paricipants are invited
up and asked to light a candle each, and to think of the colour
they have chosen (behind the performers back). You also light
a candle, and stand between the two with a lighter in each hand.
They name the colours they are thinking of, and you show that
you have them in the hand nearest each participant.
3. Think 'fire'... - The participant picks out one of five lighters and
lights it. They are to look at the flame for a second, and think
fire. This is all done while you have your back turned.
Once they have done this, they are to mix up the lighters. You
then turn round and show them each lighter in turn, saying the
word fire
as you hold up each one. You then take one lighter in each hand
without them seeing, and then you ask them to touchone of your
hands. You then open your hand toreveal the lighter that they
chose to use.
4. Flaming Balloon Surprise by Banachek - A blindfold routine for stage.
You are blindfolded, and a participant then chooses a candle,
a lighter and a balloon. You hand an envelope to someone in the
audience. The pareticipant lights the candle and takes it out
into the audience. You take the balloon and find the candle, bursting
the balloon on it. You then reveal the colours of the candle,
balloon and lighter used. The participant then opens the envelope
and reads out that it predicts the colour of the candle, balloon
and lighter.
5. Parallel by Sean Waters
- The performer invites a woman on stage and asks her if she would
mind participating in a meaningful and potentially emotive experience.
She agrees. The participant is asked to now think of a person
that has been meaningful in some way in their lives. It can be
a positive or negative experience, but someone who has affected
her life in an important way. They then light a candle using a
lighter that is the colour of a related emotion (while the performer
faces away). The performer proceeds to reveal the emotional state
that is related to the person thought of, and then reveals the
name of the thought of person.
6. Identity - You remove an envelope from your pocket and lay it
down. You then show your participant and audience a set of cards,
all with a personality type and a list of characteristics that
relate to that type. The participant freely chooses one of the
lists at random, with you seeing which list it is. You now show
them all a picture of a person, and ask the participant to imagine
that the personality type and characteristics they have chosen,
apply to this person. You ask some questions about that person,
and then you reveal the characteristics that they are thinking
of. This list closely matches what is in the envelope, along with
the same photograph.
7. 332
- Facing away, you ask someone to put down any three objects in
any order. You then ask them to think of one. You ask them to
move them around and look at them in a new order. Then once more.
You then tell them which object they are thinking of. This can
be performed over the phone.
